No. Reiki and other approaches are valuable, but the INEH form of Energy Healing – also called Esoteric Healing – is distinct. Based on the Ageless Wisdom teachings of Alice Bailey, it facilitates the flow of healing energy from the higher or spiritual self via the different centres (or chakras) to the physical glands, nerves, organs and systems of the body, as well as the emotional and mental aspects. Absolutely. Balancing the centres and the nervous system has been shown to ease stress, calm anxiety and support a range of health issues. What does a session feel like? Most people describe feeling deeply relaxed, calm, and more “themselves”. Some notice warmth, lightness, or subtle energy shifts. Others simply notice the benefits later - clearer thinking, better sleep, or reduced stress, for example. Energy Healing may be given in person or remotely, and is always tailored gently to the individual. Sessions usually last 45- 60 minutes – and include some discussion time before and after the healing session. Do you offer taster days or events? Yes. The INEH hosts an annual Autumn Gathering that is open to all (not just members). Different teachers also offer taster events (see our Events section). Healing practitioners connect via a meditative technique of alignment and attunement to a universal source of healing energy. It’s this energy that is offered to you during a healing session, but only in accordance with your highest good (the energy is never forced). This means the practitioner never dictates the outcome or feels drained by the healing process – indeed, it can often be an energising experience for both practitioner and client! How much does Energy Healing cost? Each practitioner sets their own fees. Some have a set price, for example £30-50 per session. Others accept payment by donation. Is it safe? Yes. Energy Healing does not have any negative side effects, nor does it interfere with medical care. Practitioners are trained to work ethically and in accordance with the needs of the individual. Our Founding Story Uncovering a New Form of Healing The INEH has evolved hands-on healing to work at a more subtle level in the energy field, drawing on the Ancient Wisdom teachings shared by Alice Bailey in the book Esoteric Healing Founded Through Discovery Guided by Service The INEH emerged as a charity dedicated to ethical healing practice, education and service. The INEH was founded in 1982 by Brenda Selby Johnston – although its foundations began in the 1960s, when Brenda was part of a group of healers working in the south of England. Under the guidance of a pioneering radar scientist called Rex Riant, the group evolved their healing technique from hands-on healing to instead working in the etheric (energy) field of clients. A visitor who witnessed this remarked that it was similar to what Alice Bailey described in the book Esoteric Healing. None of the group had heard of Bailey or the Ageless Wisdom. But Brenda was curious to learn more, so she signed up with the Arcane School to study esoteric science. In the early 1970s, Brenda was invited by Dr Douglas Baker to talk about Esoteric Healing at the London Festival of Yoga and Esoteric Science. Invitations to America and Canada followed, along with requests for workshops on the practical aspects of the healing techniques. Brenda’s first Part 1 course took place in Dallas in 1975 with 75 participants. Invites to Germany, Switzerland and South Africa followed. The courses expanded and, as demand grew, Brenda encouraged some of her UK students to start teaching. Together, they founded the INEH in 1982. Soon, there were teachers being trained in other countries and courses offered in five continents – a practical embodiment of the principle that “energy follows thought.” In February 1994, the INEH officially became a registered charity (Reg No: 1032492). When energy in any of these areas becomes blocked or misaligned, it can manifest as stress, pain, fatigue, low mood, digestive and hormonal problems - or even a sense of disconnection from life.
